Shivti b’vet Adonai kol yamei chayai

I will dwell in God’s house every day of my life

During the month preceding the High Holy days — the month of Elul — we engage in deep spiritual practice in order to set up the intention for the new year ahead. There is no other place to live in this life except in God’s house. When we realize that, things are aligned, we are happier and more spacious, generous and loving.

Psalm 27 is traditionally recited every day of Elul as a way to ingrain this awareness.
