High Holidays
This past Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur over 100 people gathered in Northern Westchester for a high holiday experience. The services were intimate, engaging, warm and included music, singing, group Torah aliyot and moments of contemplative quiet. Here are comments from some of the Jews without Shuls who attended:
“Thank you so much for keeping the community alive in Westchester! It was a transformational experience for me, and I’ve spoken about it often to my “lapsed-Jewish” friends over the past weeks.
Thank you for the beautiful, meaningful and inspiring services.
The services were uplifting, thought-provoking and enriching.
The holidays this year were transformative. I experienced a much greater depth of meaning, self awareness, and reflection.
My darling David is not a believer in any religion nor in G-d for that matter. We came in two cars as he has never lasted longer than 20 minutes in synagogue. At your service, he actively participated, enjoyed every minute of it and is looking forward to coming back tomorrow evening.”
Brief explanations of prayers providing connection;
• Hearing Torah chanted in English as well as Hebrew, offering a window into its meaning;
• The voice of a cello on Yom Kippur, evoking the depth of our most solemn day;
• A morning prayer walk for the 2nd day of Rosh Hashanah 10:30 AM
