Endless Light

Inner Light, Surrounding Light, Endless Light

M’maeli kol ol’min
v’sovev kol ol’min
u’m’baladecha ain shum mitz’uit kal

Translation of the Hebrew:
The whole world is filled with God’s light
and God’s light surrounds all worlds
and there is nothing but God’s light.

English words for version 2:
Lord You fill all worlds
and surround all worlds
and Lord without you, there is no world at all.

Around 1990 I attended a spiritual retreat at Elat Chayyim, a Jewish renewal retreat center in Accord NY. At this time I met Rabbi Miles Krassen, a scholar and mystic who shared this chant with a group of us. I remember saying to him at the time that I felt the power of this chant, yet I was aware that my “container” so to speak was not strong enough to access its depth. Twenty years later I feel comfortable enough to record it in hope that you will feel enlightened by its words and melody.

The way I observed Reb Miles lead this chant is as follows: He would do the chant a number of times and then he would say the words “Inner Light” and we would meditate for a few minutes; then we would do the chant again and he would stop say the words “surrounding light” and we would meditate on that; and finally after a few more rounds of the chant he would say, “endless light “and we would meditate in deep silence. To try this, you could pause the recording and meditate at each interval.

May this chant fill your vessel with all the light possible in mystical, magical ways.

I am offering 2 versions of this chant. The 1st version is how I learned it originally.
