In the aftermath of Hamas’s assault and murder of 1200 Israelis in a butcher-like manner, along with the capture of 240 hostages, I like many others was devastated. I felt helpless and hopeless, and in that despair these words came. I chanted them for weeks asking for peace in all languages, envisioning those who care about this world, joining together in this desire for peace. As a Jew and rabbi, the existence, survival and safety of Israel as a haven post Holocaust is a priority. Yet as human beings we cry at the devastation and death of so many. May this be a balm for our souls and as Jack Kornfeld teaches, may we all be on the side of peace.
